| FONL demands amendment in ‘Roshni Act’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 8 The ‘Roshni Act is nothing but only an eye wash for creating vote bank and not to mitigate the suffering of all sections of the people,” alleged the members of the Forum of Lease Holders and Occupants of Nazool Land (FONL) at a press conference here today. Addressing the media persons, convenor, FONL Inderjeet Khajuria said that the large number of lease land holders are forced to pay exorbitant price, to get acquire the property rights under the owner ship right under the ‘Roshni Act’. He further said that some influential having 100 kanals of land are being charged at the rate of Rs. 10,000 per kanal while as the poor land occupants having small piece of land are forced to pay the rates varying from Rs. 30 lacs to Rs. 1.5crore per kanal. He also said that the lands, which are sans facilities like, electric power, water supply and public transport, the govt. had fixed rate of Rs. 1 crore per kanal where as lands which are situated on the road side. The rate are fixed for there lands are much less as compared to other lands. On the occasion, Khajuria urged upon the Chief Minster to provide the ownership rights to the lease land holders by changing a nominal price. He also urged upon the authorities that the genuine and authorized lease holders should be given the ownership rights by charging a nominal amount only, which should not exceed the rates charged from unauthorized occupants through encroachments, who had paid no premium and no ground rent, in respect of 15 colonies regularized by the government, that is from Rs.15,000 to Rs. 40,000 per kanal. |
