Panthers Party, BJP demand delimitation commission
Early Times Reporter
Jammu |Jan 9
Panthers party legislators joined by lone BJP MLA Jugal Kishore once again created ruckus in the house while demanding setting up of delimitation commission to remove the regional bias between the three regions in the state during zero hour.
Though the issue was raised in the absence of the Law and Parliamentary affairs Minister senior Congress Minister Pt Mangat Ram Sharma gave an assurance in the house that Law minister will respond to the issue on his arrival in the house .Sharma said since law minister is not well he will respond to the demand.
Not satisfied with the response Panthers party leader Harsh Dev Singh once again raised the issue and pointed out that the state govt was delaying the process of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies on the basis of states’ special status in the Indian constitution besides delaying delimitation of the state assemblies. This is injustice, you cannot take people of the state for a ride.Set up the commission,Singh said
While raising the issue he also started shouting slogans demanding Delimitation commission and moved towards the chair of the speaker. He was joined by other party MLA’s Balwant Singh Mankotia,Faqir Nath and Yashpaul Kundal . Lone BJP MLA Jugal Kishore was also seen shouting slogans and demanding delimitation commission. The agitating Panthers legislators were shouting slogans, ‘Delimitation commission lagu karo’,’jammu se bhed bhao bandh karo’. After some time PHE Minister Dilawar Mir raised the issue of shortage of time and expressed concern that members in the house were wasting precious time of t he house by repeatedly raising the same issues and shouting slogans. AR Rather while supporting Mir’s view point said,” it is very unfortunate few legislators were repeatedly raising same issues in a wrong fashion and also wasting time of the house. Hearing this, Harsh Dev Singh shot back and responded angrily ,”we will continue to raise the issue as the state govt was ignoring the interest of Jammu and promoting regional bias. ”Do not shout”.It is not very easy. The state government alone cannot set up the delimitation commission, Rather said adding that it can only be done by the house and that too after having 2/3 majority .NC Legislator Sharief-ud-Din Shariq too joined the issue and pricked Harsh Dev,” why you were not raising the issue of Delimitation when you were in the cabinet. Now that you are out of the ministry and sitting in the opposition you have started a campaign silencing Harsh Dev Singh.
