| Cricket suffers due to rains | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 9 The continuous rains for the last two days have resulted into postponement of matches in the two ongoing cricket tournaments in the city. While the Luxmi Cricket Club, organizers of the Twenty-20 cricket tournament at Parade Ground, here have postponed the second consecutive match today for a later date, the hosts of President Cup at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here, Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) too have postponed the competitions. “In view of the wet outfield, we are left with no other option but to postpone the matches. We are still doubtful about tomorrow’s scheduled match between Youth Cricket Club Bhaderwah and Whites Cricket Club Srinagar and the teams have been informed accordingly,” organizing secretary of the President Cup, Sunit Sharma told Sports & Allied News. Luxmi Cricket Club too has deferred tomorrow’s match because of water logging in the ground. “Yesterday it was rains which halted the proceedings and today the match had to be postponed because the outfield was waterlogged. The teams scheduled to play tomorrow’s game have already been informed that the game has been put off for a later date,” senior vice-president of Luxmi Cricket Club, Pawan Gupta said. |
