| Sports Council to open sports academies: Haji | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 10 The autonomous sports body of J&K State Sports Council has planned to open sports academies and also initiate recruitment of the experts to provide coaching on scientific lines. This was disclosed by the Minister for Sports, Haji Nissar Ali while informing the Upper House in reply to a question by National Conference member, Devender Rana yesterday. Further elaborating the plans mooted by the State Sports Council, the Minister said, “the Sports Council proposes to create modern infrastructure in the state to nurture the sports persons besides the department proposes to open sports academies and recruitment of experts to provide coaching on scientific lines.” The Minister told the House that the Government also proposes to create specialized infrastructure by constructing an international standard cricket stadium with all modern facilities at Bain Bajalta in Jammu. However, the House should know the fact that the plan to construct a cricket stadium at Bian Bajalta is mooted by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and not the State Government. What the government has to do is to just transfer the land in the name of cricket body and the cost of construction will be borne by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). “Modernization of the football facilities as per present requirements both at Jammu and Srinagar and also to upgrade play fields for coaching and competitions would also be undertaken”, said Haji Nissar. While replying to supplementries by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, TS Wazir, Ashok Sharma, Arvinder Singh and RS Chib, the Minister informed the House that there is a dearth of Rs 100 crore worth infrastructure of sports activities in the state. However, he said that the matter is being examined at high level and Centre approached for providing necessary funds required for the augmentation of sports infrastructure in the state. |
