New Delhi | Jan 10 Joining a few distinguished and dynamic leaders in their respective fields, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Masoodi has been honoured with this year’s ‘Bharat Gaurav’ award. Instituted by India International Friendship Society (IIFS), the awards were given, on the sidelines of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, at a glittering function of NRIs and People of Indian Origin (PIO) here yesterday. Governor Assam, Lt. Gen Ajay Singh presented the awards. Among others who were present on the occasion included Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Oscar Fernandes, Speaker Haryana Assembly, Dr. Raghuvir Singh Kadian, Former Union Minister, Dr. Bhishm Narayan Singh, Canadian Minister, Harvinder Thakkar, South African Sports Minister, Amir Rajbansi, former Director, CBI, Joginder Singh and Secretary General, IIFS, Gurmeet Singh. Thanking the organizers for the award, Dr. Masoodi described it as an honour and tribute to the art, culture and literature of the state and the people associated with it. A member of Indian Broadcasting Service, Dr. Masoodi has also served as Deputy Director General Doordarshan, Director, Radio Kashmir, Srinagar and Commercial Broadcasting Service. He has been honoured for his services in art and upholding values in public life. A Ph. D from JNU, Dr. Masoodi has many publications to his credit including Kashmiri translation of late Bhishm Sahni’s acclaimed novel, Tamas. The earlier recipients of the award from J&K include Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Minister for Finance, Tariq Hameed Karra. |
