| Army refutes newspaper reports on sale of special ration in Ladakh | | ‘Action taken against guilty, providing all cooperation to local police’, Spokesman | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 11 The Army authorities today refuted a report published by a section of press alleging that Army was not cooperating with Police in the case of alleged sale of special rations in Ladakh and described the report as far from the truth. Clarifying the report Army authorities said that Army had ordered two Courts of Inquiry in the matter while court of inquiry has been completed and disciplinary action taken against ten soldiers while administrative action is being taken against the three officers. The second court of inquiry is under progress and will be finalized shortly. The spokesman said that based on the FIRs lodged, the Police had named five officers for alleged involvement in the case. It has been repeatedly intimated to the Police that out of these five officers, two were never posted in Leh, two officers have been posted out and one officer is presently posted in Leh. The police have been intimated that the officer who is presently in Leh is available to their representative to clarify any matter or provide details relevant to their investigation. In respect of the two officers posted out, the police have been requested to intimate the allegations against them, so that case can be taken up for their move to Leh. Unfortunately, there has been no communication from the Police in this regard the spokesman said adding that the Army has time and again extended full cooperation with the local Police in the investigation of the case of pilferage of rations. It has been repeatedly intimated to local Police that the Army personnel shall be made available to answer any queries at Headquarters 3 Infantry Division as and when required. After the recent newspaper reports, Army officers of the rank of Brigadier and Colonel have met the local Police authorities and briefed about the action taken by the Army against the personnel found blameworthy by the Court of Inquiry which has been completed. It was intimated that the second Court of Inquiry was being processed at the formation Headquarters. The spokesman once again offered full cooperation of the Army to the civil police in this regard. |
