| CPI to build an alternative to ruling coalition in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 11 The Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to join hands with secular and democratic parties in Jammu and Kashmir to emerge as an alternative to the ruling Congress-PDP combine in the state. The decision was taken at a recent CPI conference here in which senior party leaders including its national secretary Shameem Faizee and party MP Syed Aziz Pasha participated, state leaders of the party told reporters here today. "The decision to evolve a 'democratic' alternative has been prompted by the ruling combine's failure on all fronts compounding the problems of the common man", CPI state secretary Kamal Dev said. Describing the National Conference as its 'natural ally', Dev along with two other party secretaries G M Mizrab and Naresh Munshi called upon the main opposition party in the state to rise to the occasion and prepare itself to play a major political role at this juncture. |
