| Alleged eve teasing of girls by soldiers, army orders inquiry | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 11 Army has ordered Court of Inquiry into the alleged eve teasing incident by four army jawans in Kandi area of Rajouri and assured severe punishment to the accused if found guilty. The incident had evoked protests and an exchange of fire with the local village defence committee. The jawans of 20 Rashtriya Rifles were captured and their firearms taken away by the VDC members while the army has ordered a Court of Inquiry into the matter. Officials said the weapons were later handed to the police and the jawans released after a formal complaint was registered. The trouble started when the jawans allegedly misbehaved with several girls in Kandi, leading to a protest by locals and clash with the VDC, they said. They said some shots were fired but there were no injuries. Army spokesman Col S D Goswami said a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident and the jawans would be severely punished, if found guilty. |
