| Taxpayers cough Rs 171 lakh for VIP sorties | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 11 The state Government has spent over Rs. 171 lakhs on fuel charges for choppers, maintenance charges and flying charges during the last two years. This includes the fuel expenses on the helicopters belonging to the Airforce. As per the data tabled in the state assembly here today, the state government in its written reply informed the house that the state spent an amount of Rs.46.65 lakhs on chopper fuel during 2006-2007 and during the last less than nine months the expenses have been to the tune of Rs.32.17 lakhs. Besides this Rs.92.82 lakhs were spent on fuel, maintenance charges and flying hours from November 2006 to June 2007 on states' helicopter August. |
