| J&K Police enter QFs of football | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 12 Giving their exceptional performance, the Jammu and Kashmir football team has reached the quarterfinals of the All India Police Games being conducted by Border Security Force (BSF) Sports Board at New Delhi today. The football team of the J&K Police has achieved the feat reaching the last eight stage after a gap of six years in the prestigious Police Games. According to the reports reaching here, J&K Police defeated Assam Police in the pre-quarterfinals by a solitary goal today. Now, in the quarterfinals, the J&K Police are to meet West Bengal. Earlier, in the pool matches, J&K Police outplayed CRPF 1-0 and later overpowered Andhra Pradesh Police by two goals to one. “Despite old ranks in the team, J&K Police displayed an incredible performance in the prestigious Police Games for which they deserve appreciation,” general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), Bashir Malik told Sports & Allied News. He said that J&K Police team has improved a lot during the last couple of years despite the fact that there was hardly any fresh recruit on the police side. “Since the police team has given an improved performance at the state and national level in the recent past, the department should give it a thought and must go for some new appointments of upcoming footballers so as to make it a champion side of the future,” maintained the former footballer. |
