| JKP organizes all India tour for students of far-flung areas | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 12 As part of Operation Sadbhavana, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arranged Wattan-Ki-Sair, an all India tour for the students of militancy hit, remote and inaccessible areas of the State, which was flagged off by the Vigilance Commissioner, Dr. Ashok Bhan at an impressive function held at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground here this morning. While interacting with the students, Dr. Bhan said that the men in Khaki are the best friends of people. He said the aim of organizing such tours particularly for poor students of far-flung and remote areas of the State is to enable them to see historical places, development activities and rich ethos across the country. He said it is the endeavour of Jammu and Kashmir Police to give boost to the students hailing from remote areas of the State. He advised them to go and enjoy the tour and enrich their knowledge and improve education for a bright future. Many of the students stated that they have for the first time visited even Jammu city and thanked the police for organizing the tour. The group of 75 students is accompanied by four officers, six teachers and two para-medical staff members. As many as 15 students are drawn from Anantnag, 10 from Pulwama, 13 from Baramulla, 12 from Kupwara, 20 from Ramban and five each from Doda and Kishtwar districts. Earlier, the IGP Armed, Sheikh Owais Ahmed briefed the Vigilance Commissioner about the aim of organizing Wattan-ki-Sair and gave details of the tour programme. He said during the 10-day tour, the students would visit Agra, Taj Mahal, Delhi, Jaipur and other historical places of the country. Among others, the function was attended by IGsP S. K. Mishra, S. Gopal Reddy, Navin Agarwal and A. K. Gupta, DIGs Ravinder Kotwal, Muneer Ahmed Khan and Abdul Qayoom Manhas, AIG (T&I), Rajesh Kumar, Commandant Rafiq-ul-Hassan and other senior police officers. |
