| Various institutes celebrate Lohri | | | Early Times Reporter

National Service Scheme Units of The Directorate of Distance Education, Jammu University celebrated Lohri and Youth day with the inmates of Bal Niketan , Amphalla. Divsional Commisssioner Sudhanshu Pandey was the Chief guest on the occasion. Sudhanshu on this occasion cut the cake and lit lohri fire.Function was presided by Tilak Raj, President, Bal Niketan while NSS Cordinator Prof. Jasbir Singh was the guest of honor on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Sudhanshu Pandey said that Youth are the great power in India and they have to be channelized in the right direction so that this can be used effectively for the betterment of the society.
Parshotam Sharma said that all care is taken to make these inmates a disciplined force so that they can adjust themselves in a better way. Prof. Jasbir later interacted with the children and asked them to celebrate festivals with zeal and enthusiasm.
Others who attended the function include, Anupama Vohra, Coordinator MA English in Directortae of Distance Education, Jammu University, Satinder Kumar NSS Programme officer, Jammu University , Seema Bhasin, Harpreet Kour, Gohar Hafiz Fani, Rinky and Abbha Sakhi.
While Staff and students of Govt. Girls High School, Dogra Hall Jammu Celebrated Lohri with the inbmates of Home of old age people Under the guidance of Swarna Gupta, Head Master of the school and Narsingh Dass Coorporator Prem Sagar Gupta. And Mazeed Hussain Chaudhary. They distributed biscuits and fruits among the inmates. The students on this occasion also presentd various cultural items which werea appreciated by the senior citizens.
Mean while, Jan College of Education organized a colourful cultural programme on the eve of Lohri festival. Chairman of the college Ajaz Jan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Students of the college participated in different cultural programmes. Savita Raina , Principal of the college highlighted the importance of Lohri festival .
Vimal Muni College of Education Ramgarh celebrated Lohri festival by organizing cultural function in the college premises. Chiarperson of the college , Anu Gupta on this occasion lit the holy fire. Dry fruits and sweets were distributed among the students and staff speakers highlighted the importance of the function.
Anu Gupta in her address stressed the need to celebrate such festivals for the preservation and transmission of our culturtal heritage.
Higher Education Minister , Gulchain Singh Charak visited the degree college where it is housed in a primary school near government middle school Akhnoor and celebrated the Lohri festival with the students of the college who have assembled within the premises of the college today for the same.
Seeing the pathetic condition of the class rooms, Charak while addressing the students lauded the role of administration as well as students who continued the academic curriculum with zest despite, facing lot of inconvenience during last three years. He said that the founder students of this college who top in University exams have become the beacon lights for the coming generation of the Akhnoor area.
Charak asked the students to acquire the knowledge in every field and serve the society for its betterment. Our goal is to enlight our young generation with moral and value based education to save the society from the evils, he said.
The students of the college also presented colourful cultural programmes applauded by the audience. |
