| 135th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda celebrated | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 12 Minister for Health and Medical Education, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that best tributes to Swami Vivekananda ji follow his teachings for strengthening the nation and upholding its secular character. Addressing at a function organized by Vivekananda Kendra Jammu to celebrate his 145 th birth anniversary here today, the Health Minister said Swami ji always stood for truth and welfare of poor adding that this great saint showed us the right path for strengthening the bonds of love and amity. He said great Swami ji always thought about a great nation full of love, sincerity, good motives, truth and purity. He said following Vivekananda's motives we will not only be honour to him but also to honour the nation. Sharma said that life of Swami Vivekananda has fascinated generations across the globe adding "it continuous to do so even today, after hundreds of years of his death". Pt. ji exhorted upon the youth to join the great saints mission in large scale to make his dream a reality. He also called opon them to acquaint themselves with moral and religious education besides bringing excellence in academics. Jt. Director Information. S. K. Sharma in his address threw light on the life and teachings of Swami ji and said "if we follow the path shown by this great saint we succeed on all fronts". He stressed upon the members to spread the message and teachings of Swami ji among the masses to bring spiritual awakening as envisaged by this great saint. Sanhotra Vibhag Pramuk of North states, Additional SP Jammu city. Shakti Pathak and other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and expressed their views about the teachings and workings of great saint. They said it was the need of hour to follow the path shown by him for making India state. On the occasion a debate competition was held on significance of, "Swami Vivekananda's teachings in present day context" in which 10 educational institutions participated. Kanika Chauhan of Oriental Academy, Regzin of DBN and Shaveta Sharma of Vimal Public School bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Earlier a Shoba Yatra comprising of contingents of youth and prominent citizens was also passed through various markets of the city and culminated at Nekchand Memorial Hall Rani Talab. To commemorate Swami Vivekanands 135th birth anniversary, BJYM district Unit organized the function at Swami Vivekanand Chowk. Pranav Gupta, District President BJYM paid tributes to Swami Vivekanand by garlanding the Statue of Swami ji. Spaeking on the occasion, Pawan Khajuria, State President described the soul as legend who not only elaborate the meaning of Hindtatva but also make Hindu Religion free from evils like castism. Others whio paid tributes include Rajiv Charak, Vipan Shastri, Rakesh Dogra, Neeraj Gupta, Sanjay Khajuria, Rajinder Parsad and Danish Sharma. Pradesh Congress Seva Dal J&K Under the Chairmanship of Balwinder Singh Sambyal also celebrated 135th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananad. Spaeking on the occasion, Sambyal described Swami Vivekanand as a great scholar of Vedas and highly educated spiritualist person of his times . He asked the youth to follow the footsteps of Swami Vivekananad . Others who spoke on the occasion include Anil Sharma, Yudhvir Singh, Munish Gupta, Hardev Singh , Rakesh Gupta. |
