| Governor, Managat pay tributes to Vivekananda | | Rs.100 crore Caner Institute coming-up | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 12 Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S. K. Sinha today said that a state of Art, medical care Cancer Institution of excellence is likely to become operational at a cost of 100 crore at Kakriyal near Katra this year. Speaking at the function held to commemorate the 145th birth anniversary of Shri Vivekananda at the Shri Vivekananda Medical Mission Amfala this morning, the Governor said that the facility is being set up by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Board as a part of its social responsibility programme. The Governor said that the first phase of the cancer institution is fast coming up adjacent to yet another flagship of the Shrine Board, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in the foot steps of Trikuta hills. He said institution will have latest equipment and diagnostic facilities at an affordable fee and even free of cost to needy and poor patients. General Sinha expressed happiness over the expansion of Shri Vivekananda hospital and said it will be befitting tribute to a visionary, who believe in the philosophy of service of man-kind is the service of God. He recalled the contribution of Vivekananda in the renaissance of Indian philosophy and made a mark during his speech at parliament of world religion in Chicago. He said that this great day reminds us the services of a Visionary of a great nation who believed in universal brotherhood and harmony between various communities. He said that Swami Vivekananda inculcated a sense of self esteem among the compatriots and worked for social justice at a time when vested interests were exploiting masses in the name of religion. Governor said the great saint worked all through his life for emancipating the society and bringing a glory to the nation. Paying tributes to the visionary, Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Raam Sharma said that Vivekananda was a guiding source for the youth of the country to tread the path of righteous and truth. He hailed contributes of Vivekananda Mission in supplementing health care facility in Jammu. The Minister said that a highly specialized health care facility is coming up on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Science AIIMS at Jammu which will go a long way in meeting the requirement of the ailing people of this region. Earlier, the Governor laid foundation stone of the second phase of the Mission Hospital and went round its newly setup dental section.
