| JKCA postpones President Cup for `security reasons’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 13 Due to `security reasons, the organizers of the ongoing President Cup cricket tournament at GGM Science College Hostel ground, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association has postponed the event. In fact, both the front and hostel grounds of the GGM Science College are taken over by the security agencies for converting them into parking lots for the Republic Day function at M A Stadium, here. And, due to the pressure build up by the security staff, the organizers of the tournament, JKCA, had left with no other alternative but to postpone the event. “The event has been postponed for security reasons. The fresh dates for the tournament shall be communicated to the participating clubs accordingly,” organizing secretary of the tournament, Sunit Sharma told Sports & Allied News. Earlier, in the last match played yesterday, Shastri Cricket Club inflicted a humiliating defeat on International Cricket Club beating latter by 184 runs. Batting first, Shastri Club made 233 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 40 overs, which, in reply, ICC could not chase and the whole side bowled out cheaply for 49 runs in 27.4 overs. |
