| Court awards compensation to Army personnel killed in accident | | | Early Times Reporter

Presiding Officer Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), Jammu, Mr. BL Bhat today awarded over Rs.2.52 crore as compensation to the representatives of the Army personnel, who were killed and injured in a road accident at Chamalwas on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
According to the case, 24 Army personnel, who were traveling in SRTC bus No JK01Y-0381 from Jammu to Srinagar, died on spot while six others, including the driver and the conduct had sustained injuries when the ill fated bus rolled down 300 feet deep into a gorge due to rash and negligent driving of driver Mohd Shaban. The relatives of the deceased had filed claim petitions before the Tribunal which was decided today.
After hearing both the sides the Presiding Officer issued notice to the respondents including driver Mohd Shaban and others awarded Rs. 2, 52, 17000 as compensation to the next of kin of the deceased and the injured. JNF |
