The core committee of the state Samajwadi Party (SP) meeting under the chairmanship of its president, Sheikh Abdul Rehman discussed political situation in the state, particularly, the De-limitation commission on which, the party hopes govt. will certainly bring a bill in the current assembly session itself to make amendment in the 29th constitutional amendment in the state.
In a resolution, the meeting observed that the central de limitation commission, header by justice Kuldeep Singh, constituted by president of India, has already conducted the exercise in 25 states of India barring J&K state, which is great injustice with the people of the state. The de limitation commission in J&K state is more important, because apart from constitutional obligations, there are more anomalies. For example, in Jammu division around 15 to 20 lakh voters for one parliament seat stretched over three districts as compared to around 10 to 12 lakh voters in Kashmir stretched over two districts. More to this, the terrain in Jammu is hilly and unaccessibly as compared to Kashmir plains. In Ladakh, there are just 2 to 2.5 lakh voters only for one parliament seat. The meeting observed and decided to approach Justice Kuldeep Singh, Chairman, Delimitation commission of India to do justice with the electorates of the state, as well.
The meeting observed that Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has virtually failed in checking the menace; not to speak of eradicating it. Despite tall, but hollow claims of removing corruption, a major chunk of public oney is going under the drains with active connivance of ministers of the bureaucrats.
The latest example of glaring corrupt practice has come to fore on the floor of the assembly through a sensational disclosure by an independent MLA Shoab Lone of Sangrana constituency, alleging giving a some of Rs. 40,000 to a cabinet ministers as corruption for clearance of a file. In yet another resolution, the SP core committee criticized the dual policy of coalition govt. in providing facilities to the Hajis of Jammu province, putting them to great inconvenience during chilling snow conditions.
