T-20 cricket: Vinay scripts Cantt Club’s 8-wkt win

A superb knock of 35-ball 51 runs from Vinay Gupta today guided Cantt Cricket Club to an easy eight-wicket victory over Challenger Cricket Club in the ongoing Twenty-20 cricket tournament at Parade Ground, here.
Both Vinay and Bunty had first wicket partnership of 72 runs which, in fact, laid the strong foundation for Cantt Club’s easy win.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Challenger Club made 114 runs for the loss of eight wickets, which, in reply, Cantt Club chased in 18.1 overs for the loss of two wickets.
Middle order batsman, Guru Partap Singh remained the top scorer with unbeaten 45 including six boundaries while tale-ender Deepak contributed 29-ball 35 runs studded with five hits to the fence. Sanjeev was other batsman who scored in double figure with 11 runs in his account. From Cantt Club, Gourav remained the most successful bowler with three for 21 in four overs. Raj Kumar, Vicky and Ashu Rana shared apiece each.
Later, chasing a run rate of near six runs per over, Cantt Club made a fine start with openers Vinay Gupta and Bunty bringing the team to a comfortable position with their excellent batting.
While Vinay made 35-ball 51 runs studded with four sixes and five boundaries, Bunty played slow but steady innings contributing unbeaten 36 (1x6, 3x4). Riaz (not out) and Purshotam were other scorers with 12 and six runs in their respective accounts. G P Singh and Vivek Singh bagged one wicket each from Challenger Club.
For his match winning innings of 51, Vinay Gupta was named man of the match. Today’s match was officiated by Santa Singh and Pappu Dogra while Rajeev was scorer.
