Mangat flags off study tour of BSF

Since 2000, BSF Frontier Jammu has been organizing “Bharat Darshan” study tours for the students of remote areas of Jammu region. Under this programme so far the BSF has sent 7 such study tours to Northern, Central and Southern state of the country. During these tours 322 students from various remote areas of the Jammu region have availed the opportunity to visit different parts of the country. Through these tours students have been benefited of getting vast exposure of Indian heritage, culture and development.
To continue this good gesture this year too, BSF Frontier Jammu is sending such a study tour today comprising of 35 students from various far flung areas of different districts of Jammu region that includes: 5 students from Jammu itself, 2 from Kathua, 3 from Samba, 11 from Rajouri, 7 from Poonch, 4 from Reasi and 3 from Ramban districts. All the students who are selected for this tour are in the age group of 12 – 15 years and are students of 6th to 10th standards.
The study tour was flagged off by Sh. Mangat Ram Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Medical Education today at 1220 hours in a colour function which was organized at BSF campus Paloura, Jammu.
The Chief Guest addressed the students and blessed them for a happy and comfortable tour. While his address to the students he also told them about the importance of such study tours which inculcates national feelings and enfaces National Integrity besides giving them exposure of Indian Heritage and Culture.
Sh. A. K. Surollia, IG BSF told that the students shall be visiting various historical places and Industrial installations located in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Agra and Amritsir. Taj Mahal, Jamia Masjid, Delhi, Metro Rail, Golden Temple and Bonhomie at Attari will be places of special interest to the students. They will also be taken to the sea shore and will be given a joy ride in ship.
Republic Day Prade 2008 will give glimpses of cultural heritage and economic development of the country. The complete expenditure on the tour is being borne by BSF as disclosed by Sh. A. K. Surollia, IG BSF, Jammu.
