Taj replies Namgyal, Bhim's Calling Attention Notice

Minister for CAPD Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din today informed the Legislative Council in reply to Calling Attention Notice by Mr. P. Namgyal and Prof. Bhim Singh said " during intervening night of 8/9 -01-2008, 15 persons including 07 Army personnel and 08 Army Porters were trapped in a snow avalanche at Rajput Tickri post near LoC in the jurisdiction of police station Bijhama. He said that 02 Army personnel were rescued in an injured condition and 13 persons i.e.05 Army personnel and 08 Army Porters are feared dead due to snow avalanches and no dead body has yet been recovered.
He stated that "the relief as admissible under rules shall be sanctioned in each case and the SDM/Tehsildar Uri have been directed to process the cases immediately".
He stated "in Kupwara snow avalanche incident, he said on 9-01-2008, 03 Army personnel of 177 artillery died due to snow avalanche at Machal top camp and 01 Army personnel died on January 10, 2008 due to snow avalanche while performing sanitary duty at the camp. All the dead bodies have been recovered and handed over to concerned units".
Taj Mohi-ud-Din further stated "on 08-01-2008, due to heavy snow falls one tata sumo bearing registration No. JK07/0184 on its way from Pashkum to Kargil met with an accident near the head work of Iqbal Hydel Project Kargil in which 14 passengers were traveling. He said all the 14 injured passengers including 3 children and a woman were immediately shifted to district hospital Kargil for medical treatment, where Mrs Razia Bano w/o Nasser Hussain aged 35 years R/o Pashkun and Mohammad Zahoor S/o Nissar Hussain R/o Pashkun succumbed to their injuries. The accident occurred due to rash & negligent driving and in this regard case FIR No. 4/08 u/s 279, 337, 304 RPC stand registered in Police Post Kargil".
He said "an amount of Rs 5000 each have been paid as cash relief in favour of kith of kins of the deceased, Rs 2000 each to the 05 seriously injured and Rs 1000 each to the 07 normal injured persons out of Red Cross Fund".
