| Interactive programme on media interface for SSG held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 15 Police Technical Training Institute today held an interactive programme for Special Security Group (SSG) on the topic "Media interface" at Vijaypur. Principal of the Institute SP Naseer Ahmad inaugurated the day long programme while Assistant Director Information Gh. Hassan Sheikh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Threadbare discussions were held on various aspects of the topic and sensitivities involved in media management were thrashed out. It was concluded that importance should be laid on working out strategies to ensure complete synergy between media and SSG so that both perform their role more effectively. In his keynote address, Mr. Sheikh stressed on the need of understanding the vital role of media in the timely dissemination of policies, programmes and activities of government to public and highlighting their feedback. "It is imperative for SSG personnel to behave in friendly, polite and civilized manner with media persons", he maintained. He said effective flow of information between government and people not only stabilizes government but also strengthens democracy which, he said was vital for economic growth and social progress of the state. Given the tough task of SSG in the present security scenario of the state, he said journalists should also understand nature of the job of police personnel and render them full corporation during frisking, etc so that risks associated in safeguarding the VIPs are warded off. |
