| LeT District Commander killed in Bandipore | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Jan 15 Security forces claimed to have gunned down District Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in a joint operation at Ajas in Bandipore district of North Kashmir Official spokesman quoting SP Ganderbal told News Agency of Kashmir that on specific information regarding the presence of militants in the house of Morifat Ullah Khan son of Neyamat Ullah Khan of Ajas Bandipore, Ganderbal Police, jawans of 145Bn CRPF and troops of 13 RR launched a search operation and zeroed in the hideout. "Soon after the security forces cordoned off the house, militants opened indiscriminate fire on troops" he said adding the fire was returned and in the ensuing encounter District commander of LeT Abu Kital alias Abu Hamza of Pakistan was gunned down. The slain militant according to police was involved in scores of innocent civilian killings including killing of Ashiq Latief at Hajan, Hamid Chacha at Bazipora, Bashir Ahmed at Nadihal, Abdul Rashid and his wife at Bazipora and Noor Kawa at Hajan. Besides, he had also murdered one Ghulam Hassan Qureshi, his wife and had also killed their daughter by slitting her throat. One AK rifle, one Magazine and 25 round of ammunition were also recovered from the site of encounter. |
