| Members’ protest lead to deferment of two questions in Assembly | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 16 The Government faced music in the Assembly,in session now,today forcing it to defer two questions after the opposition members staged protest demonstration within the well of the House. NC members were on their feet protesting against unsatisfactory reply given by the Minister of state,Mr Ramesh Chander Sharma to a question tabled by Mir Saifullah. Mir Saifullah wanted to know constituencywise details on the number of PHE schemes taken up during the last two years.When the protests of NC saw the Minister unyielding three NC members,including Mir Saifullah and Kafil-ur-Rehman,walked to the well of the house shouting slogans.They later staged a dharna in the well of the House.Other NC members,including Mr Abdul Rahim Rather,Ali Mohd.Sagar,Dr Mehbood Beg,Sharief-ud-Din Shariq were seen on their feet demanding that the question be deferred.Mr Rather explained that the Government was supposed to give detailed information to the questions tabled by the members.He pleaded with speaker,Mr Tara Chand,that the procedure was that when the members were not satisfied with the reply that question needed to be deferred. It took time for the speaker to decide and when the NC members continued with their protests Mr Tara Chand announced that the question had been deferred. Earlier opposition members also supported two Congress MLAS,Mr Raman Bhalla and Mr Yogesh Shawney,who were not satisfied with the reply to their question on discrimination of daily wagers in Jammu.They said that while those in Kashmir received Rs.2100 per month those in Jammu were getting only Rs.500. Sawhney and Mr Bhalla remained on their feet demanding details on whether the Government planed to end this discrimination.Again the house of rocked by noisy scenes forcing the speaker to defer the question despite the Health Minister,Mr Mangat Ram Sharma’s assurances to look into the matter. |
