1/16/2008 10:59:12 PM

Jammu | Jan 16
MLA, Kulgam and state secretary of CPI (M) M.Y. Tarigami in a statement issued here today has said any price hike in petroleum products would be opposed by tooth and mail. He said as the people are already over burdened with the spiraling prices of essential commodities and any hike in petroleum prices will further add to their burden.
It is estimated that the central govt. has already collected over Rs. 40,000 crores than budget estimates through taxes. If this amount were returned to the oil companies the necessity of increasing the prices of petroleum products would not arise, he added.
