| Always worked for the cause of poor people: BJP | | Tributes paid to Manhas | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 17 Rich tributes were paid to the former Member Legislative Assembly Ram Nath Manhas on his fourth death anniversary which was performed at his native village Sajwal the other day. Large number of political leaders, prominent citizens, Sarpanches, Panchs locals who were present on the occasion, remembered the contribution of the departed leader. Former Union Minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, BJP state chief Ashok Khajuria, former BJP state chief Daya Krishan Kotwal, vice president Shamsher Singh visited the residence of late leader at village Sajwal to pay their tributes. While paying their tributes, the leaders said that Manhas was a gentleman politician and social activist who was always engaged in the promotion of developmental activities in Akhnoor tehsil. The leaders described his death as a great loss for the people in general and Bhartiya Janta party in particular. Congress leader Jagan Nath Sharma, while paying his tributes, termed the late legislator as a leader of masses and said that Manhas always worked for the cause of poor people of his area. Services rendered by the Ram Nath Manhas would always be remembered, Sharma said adding the real tribute to the leader would be to follow his principles. Later, some old associates of the late leader from Praja Parishad were honoured with shawls. Blankets were distributed among poor people. Others who paid their tributes include, Mamta Singh, Mangal Singh, Col (Retd) Uttam Singh, Chaman Lal Kanathia, Manmohan Singh, Ram Saroop Sharma, Shamsher Singh and others. |
