| University campus at Poonch to begin work next session | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 17 Minister for Higher Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today informed Legislative Council that University Campus at Poonch would start functioning before the next academic session. "It is the policy of government to provide education to the people at their doorsteps, he added. Responding to supplementaries from Mohammad Murtaza Khan and Ms Sakina Ittoo. Replying the main question from Mr. Bashir Ahmad Naaz, the Minister said "land measuring 61.7 kanals at village Dingla has been identified for establishment of University Campus Poonch. As soon as the land is acquired, construction work shall be started". Replying another question from Mr. Nasrrulah, the Minister said "State Cabinet recently took a decision for setting up of 18 new degree colleges in the state (10 under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan and 8 under the state plan). Accordingly 18 new degree colleges have been sanctioned to be established at 18 different locations in the state". A government Degree College is already functioning at Kargil. As such there is no proposal to establish a new government Degree College in Kargil district". |
