| BJP demands action against all tainted ministers in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 17 Asserting that the sacking of education minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed was not enough to stem the rot, pradesh BJP President Ashok Khajuria today demanded action against all the tainted ministers in Jammu and Kashmir. "If the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is really interested in rooting out corruption, he has no option but to drop from his council of ministers all the tainted ministers, including those indicted by the State Accountability Commission (SAC)", Khajuria told reporters here. The Chief Minister should also forthwith initiate criminal proceedings against each one of those tainted ministers so that right signal goes across the state that no corrupt or immoral element has any place in the state's scheme of things, he said. Simultaneously, the Chief Minister also has to rid his administration of corrupt bureaucrats and officials, who too have been busy in misappropriating public funds and promoting the interest of their favourites. Accusing the Congress of misleading the state legislature, Khajuria said the party first made a commitment that the government would introduce a bill in the current session seeking the constitution of delimitation commission but reneged on its promise later on. Expressing surprise that the state health minister Mangat Ram Sharma continued to hold his ministerial position despite the fact that he was virtually snubbed by the Chief Minister for making such a commitment on the floor of the house, the BJP leader said such a thing could happen only in Jammu and Kashmir. |
