Early Times Reporter Rajouri | Jan 17 Chairman all India Mahatma Gandhi Foundation Zahir abass Bhatti while addressing a public meeting at Chinges said that the army authorities here don’t seem to be interested in implementing the orders of the defence minister regarding the vacation of troops from government buildings and public places. He said November 30, 2007, was deadline set by defence minister A.K Anthony for the vacation of troops from government buildings and public places, but troops continue to occupy some of the buildings. He said building were troops are stationed are the historical buildings and can serve as heritage tourism sites and can earn revenue for the state. It is ironical that even though the army authorities here have vacated most of the government buildings occupied by them. But they have not vacated the historical buildings or forts, till date, he said. He urged upon the Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Home Minister, and Chief Minister to take suitable action to wards this matter.
