| Gujjar, Bakerwal demands facilities | | | Early Times Reporter Samba | Jan 17 The population of Gujjar and Bakerwalls in the state Jammu and Kashmir is 25 lakh, not 15 lakh as claimed by the state government, said senior Panther Party leader and member sheep and sheep product development board Ch. Basharat Ali here today. He said, government is paying very little attention for the welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwall community. He further said that it was in 1996, that Harsh Dev Singh proposed bill of reservation of scats for the community like that of SC and ST, but no political party supported it in the assembly. Barkat Ali further said free land for construction of house he provided to land less people of the community, with all facilities. Among others who attend the meeting, were Mohd. Iqbal, Arshad Ali, Mohammed Ali, Molvi Mohammed Rafeeq and Bashir Ali. |
