| Govt. committed to enhance annuity to gallantry award winners : Taj | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 18 The state government on Friday gave an assurance in the state legislature that soon after cabinet sub committee, set up by the state government to look in to the issue of increasing annuity amount to gallantry award winners, will submit its recommendations to the cabinet it will give its nod without wasting any time. "We have agreed in principle to accord approval to the recommendations of the cabinet sub committee which is already looking into the issue of hiking annuity amount at par with other neighboring states", Taj Mohi-ud-Din , Minister for CADP said in the upper house today. The state government gave this assurance in response to the question raised by the MLC P Namgyal. The Minister however refuted news reports that Param Vir Awardee Captain Bana Singh was given shabby treatment by the state government and admitted the annuity amount given to the gallantry award winners is less and it should be enhanced at par with other neighboring states. Replying to supplementaries, Taj said, soon after the matter came in to the notice of the state government it took a serious note of it and set up a cabinet sub-committee. |
