| Workshop on Commerce Curriculum and Changing trends held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 18 One day Workshop on Commerce curriculum and changing trends was organized today by Department of Commerce, Govt. College for Women Parade at the college premises. Former Head and Dean Department of Commerce Jammu University, Prof. NS Gupta was the chairperson while Principal of the GCW Parade Usha Jayee presided over the function. The functions begin with the lightening of traditional lamp by the Principal Usha Jayee. Speaking on the occasion, she elaborated the participants about the purpose of organizing this workshop. She further emphasized that changing times require that the curriculum in commerce be changed. “What we have been teaching for quite a long time needs to be revamped so that we are able to deliver goods as per need of the hour”, she said. Dr. Nutan Resutra, HOD Commerce of the College in his address dwelt upon the existing curriculum and the need to restructure them. He called upon the dons of commerce to come up with innovative ideas to have a new and fresh curriculum so that aspirations of students can be met. Dr. NS Gupta in his speech appreciated the valuable suggestions put forth by participants especially those of the host college and students who interacted with faculty. He called upon the need to restructure the existing syllabus and make it more Information Technology based and vocational so that the students are able to meet the challenges of 21st century. Others who attended the workshop included Prof. Gl Thappa, Principal GCW Kathua, and Prof. PK Kaul, Govt. Degree College Kishtwar. |
