| Theft cases solved, accused held, stolen property recovered | | | Early Times Reporter Doda | Jan 18 Police today claimed to have solved two theft cases by arresting one of the thieves and recovered the stolen property from his possession within less than 24 hours. According to reports on the intervening night of Jan 17-18, two theft cases were reported in the district. The first incident took place in Mohalla Bun Doda in which some thieves struck into the shop of Om Prakash and took away goods and cash worth Rs.65, 000 while the second incident took place in Mohalla Hamdanpur where the thieves looted the shop of one Mubina Begum. The SSP Manohar Singh on receipt of complaints constituted a police team headed by Dy SP Hqs for investigation of these cases. The team conducted raids at various places to nab the culprits and finally succeeded in arresting one of the thieves identified as Javed Ahmed son of Mohammed Yousuf Bhat of Garethar at present Hamdanpur Doda. The SSP said that during questioning the accused confessed to have committed theft and on his instance the stolen property was recovered. The accused is being put to sustained questioning to know about his other activities and associates and further investigation in the case was in progress, the SSP said adding that some more arrests are likely to be made shortly. |
