| Rally on use of renewable energy sources in Baramulla | | | Srinagar, August 24 – A rally was today organized at Baramulla by Science and Technology department to observe Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Dewas aimed at to send a message and give thrust on adoption of renewable sources of energy. In all, 250 students of twenty schools participated in the rally. The rally was flagged off from Deputy Commissioner’s office and the students went round the town to spread message for adoption of renewable energy sources.
On this occasion, it was informed that efforts are on to develop locally based renewable energy devices. The Science and Technology department is going to install 30 KV micro projects at Zemboor. Pattan and Choolan Uri in Baramulla district which would help to provide electricity to two hundred families of these villages. Five hundred compact luminous tubes are also being distributed. Out of these, 300 such tubes have already been distributed in Slamabad and Nowpora villages of Uri tehsil on 55 percent subsidized cost. |
