| Rs 3.5 cr a year on VIP luxury | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 18 From the bare chest protest of SRTC employees to suicide attempts of many others who have been running without salaries for long times, the government does not have the required money to foot the wage bills of its employees of various categories. However, when it comes to comfort and luxury of the Ministers and other VIPs including chairpersons of terminally sick corporations, money has never been the problem. On an average the present government has spend over Rs three crores every year since 2002 on traveling allowances, fuel and telephone charges of the MLAs. A total amount of Rs 17 Crore has been spent on this account. The Legislative Council was today told that Rs 363 lakh have been drawn as TA and DA by the cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Chairmen of PSUs since November 2002. In addition to it Rs 1174.15 lakh have been drawn as fuel charges and Rs 165.87 lakh have been spent on telephones by the VIPs during the same period. |
