| Natrang, Airtel tie-up on social issues | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan19 To drive awareness about the social concerns afflicting our society, Airtel, the leading telecom service provider has chosen a novel way. Airtel has tied up with Natrang, well-known theatre group to spread awareness about social issues through the medium of humorous street plays, especially in rural areas. The series of street plays being organized by Airtel through Natrang under director Mr Balwant Thakur highlights the issues of child marriage among girls and lack of zeal to get the girl child educated, at various places in Jammu district. To drive the message effectively, “Suno Ek Kahani”, a play in Dogri language by Natrang highlights various drawbacks of these social concerns. The play which revolves around a girl who wants to pursue her studies but her parents are adamant on getting her married talks about aspirations of a girl child. They choose a groom for her but a police team, which reaches on the spot and warns the parents of dire consequences, eventually rescues her. They also apprise that child marriage was a crime as per law. The highlight remains the depiction of the fact through humorous sequences that were very well taken by the huge audience. The series of plays by Airtel was inaugurated by organizing first play at Vijaypur which received overwhelming response, followed by Samba and Manwal. Mr Vishal Sehgal Chief Operating Officer, Bharti Airtel J&K circle and other officials besides eminent citizens of the area witnessed the play. The play will also be staged at various other places like Basholi and Billawar. |
