With the five matches decided on the opening day, including three ending in walkovers, the quarterfinals line-up has been cleared in the inter-college men’s kabaddi tournament underway at University of Jammu, here today.
In addition, two teams of Degree College Ramnagar and Degree College Udhampur scheduled to play today could not turn up giving the Degree College Akhnoor direct entry into the semi-finals to be played on January 21.
The two first round pre-quarterfinals matches decided today went in favour of Government MAM Colleges.
In the first match, MAM (Evening) College defeated Degree College Reasi by a margin of 15 points with score on board 29-14. The second match was also won by MAM (Morning) College outplaying another city college of Government SPMR College of Commerce in a one-sided contest 43-18.
In other scheduled matches, Degree College Akhnoor got walkover Degree College Bhaderwah while Degree College Kathua awarded walkover Degree College Kishtwar. Degree Rajouri also got walkover Degree College Poonch.
Now, in the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow, last year’s second position holder, GGM Sciene shall take on Degree College Kathua while MAM (Evening) College to face Degree College Rajouri. Third quarterfinal shall be played between defending champion, PG Departments and MAM College. |
