Discipline basic ingredient of character: Charak

Saying that the discipline is the basic principal for character building, Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak today stressed on punctuality of students in all curriculum and co-curricular activities. He said without punctuality no student succeeds in his career pursuit.
He was speaking to the students and staff members of R.S.Pura Degree College after his surprise visit to the college here this morning. He was also accompanied by Director Colleges N.D.Wani.
Asking students to imbibe punctuality in day to day affairs, the Minister directed Principal of the college to adhere to the punctuality along with staff as teachers are the ideals for students and society. He said there would be no compromise on punctuality of staff and students in all the institutions of the state and whosoever was found guilty would be punished adding " maintaining congenial atmosphere within the institutions was the basic requirement for academic excellence’.
Charak directed all Principals of the state to ensure that co-curricular activities are made necessary as a part of education to expose the talent of student's community in every field. He said "I will personally monitor both activities any time in every institution".
Earlier, Charak inspected various class rooms' laboratories, library and interacted with the students to enquire about different aspects of academic and other facilities. After listening to problems of students of different streams, he assured them that colleges would soon witness palatable environment, for which he spelt out broader contours. He said that government is committed to provide better teaching as well as infrastructure facilities to the students of the state.
He also inspected the new campus of the college constructed at a cost of Rs.3.90 crore by JKPCC in a record period of 18 months. During the inspection, the Minister found some irregularities in construction work of the college and directed the concerned engineer to fulfill all the requirements of the project report besides speeding up the execution work on allied developmental works of the college.
