| Charak inspects pace of work on Hajj complex, migrant township | | | Srinagar, August 24 –Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today visited different areas of Budgam district and inspected various on going development projects. The projects inspected include Migrant Township at Sheikhpora Budgam, Haj House Bemina, Grider bridge near Town Hall Budgam and Naraspora Budgam. Mr. Charak said that Migrant township at Sheikhpora Budgam comprising 200 room flats is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 crore. So far Rs. 18 crore has been incurred on the project. The work on the Migrant township was started during April 2004 and is nearing completion. He said that these sets have all modern facilities. During his inspection of the Haj House under construction at Bemina the Minister was informed that the complex would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.33 crore. The complex will have immigration counter, foreign exchange counter, conference hall, kitchens, dining hall, hostel rooms and mosque. He said that bridge at Bemina flood channel would be completed by next year at an estimated cost of Rs. 13 crore. Seventy percent work has been already completed. On its completion it will save the area from floods. Mr. Charak said that Girder bridge at Naraspora Budgam would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.30 crore within two years. He further said that another Girder Bridge at Budgam near Town hall would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.53 crore. This bridge would also be completed within two years time under the double shift system. The Minister also inspected the upgradation work of 2 km. old Barzulla internal road which is being blacktopped. Mr. Chark exhorted upon the engineers accompanying him during his inspection to work with dedication and ensure the timely completion of all the development works. The construction work on the projects inspected by the Minister have been taken up under the double shift system as instructed by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said that the introduction of double shift in the execution of development programmes is an effort for providing responsive and accountable administration to the people under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad and has started yielding encouraging results. He said the state has made a head way towards goal of Khushal Kashmir envisioned and conceptualized by Mr. Azad. He said that the Government is making sincere endeavors for providing all basic amenities to the people. Managing Director JKPCC and other senior officers of the JKPCC accompanied the Minister during his visit. |
