If Sabina is the most infamous name in Srinagar sex scandal, Yasmeena –who fell prey to many a big wigs' lust –is the most victimized character of this whole sleaze ring. Perhaps it was the poverty and ignorance of her parents which led this young girl into an unending nightmare.
Yasmeena's becomes from a poor family in the downtown Srinagar. Her father Mohammad Ameen Khan and mother Rafiqa Khan do not have a house of their own. They wound take rented accommodation on the locality and change that quite often under the prevailing circumstances. The ugly face of Srinagar sex scandal, Sabina happens to be a distant relative of theirs.
The ill fates story of their life begins with Sabina offering Rafiqa Khan an assignment of Rs 400 a month to do domestic chores at her residence. Rafiqa would visit Sabina's resident, in the same locality, every morning to wash utensils and clean the rooms. However, Sabina never allowed Rafiqa to enter or clean one particular room at her ground floor.
During her daily visits to Sabina's house, Rafiqa would often find two to three young girls sitting with her. On being questioned, Sabina would always say these were her relatives. Some men would also visit there which made Rafiqa little suspicious but she could never make as what was happening.
Meanwhile, Yaseema, then aged 16, was studying in ninth standard at Islamia High School in Nawa Bazaar. Some times when Rafiqa fell ill, Yasmeena would go Sabina's house as a substitute for domestic chores. It was during her these visits that Sabina lured her to flesh trade and made her a commodity for the pleasure of many a well meaning persons ranging from Ministers to lawyers and businessmen. Ironically, Yasmeena's parents, as they claimed in their statement to the CBI, could never guess any such activity.
Once fine day in 2005, the Police raided Sabina's residence and found the flesh trade activity going on. Sabina, some girls and two Sikh youth (clients) were arrested from the spot. Being a distant relative and the one who offered Rafiqa job in her hour of distress, Yasmeena's parents decided to visit her in the Police station and carried some food for her. They also arranged a lawyer for her bail.
Following the expose of flesh trade, the landlord threw Sabina out of his house. When released from the Police Station she did not have any place to stay in. therefore for next two to three months she stayed at the rented house of Yasmeena's parents till she shifted to her own newly constructed house at Habba Kadal. After shifting to her own house she again offered Rafiqa the job of domestic help but she denied.
Things moved on smoothly for quite a while till a Police party from Shaheed Ganj Police station visited Yasmeena's parents in early 2006 and picked them up for questioning. There opened the story of their daughter's nude clippings being circulation. Yasmeena's parents say that never know any thing about that. However, they admit that ever since Rafiqa had left job at Sabina's place in early 2005, Yasmeena might have continued to visit her. |
