| Illicit timber seized, 8 smugglers arrested | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Jan 21 Police today claimed to have seized illicit timber and arrested eight persons in this connection from a remote village in Kunzar area of North Kashmir today. Police sources quoting SHO Police Station Kunzar told KMT that on a specific information Naka party of Police station, Kunzar arrested eight timber smugglers at Gulabdaji and recovered eight slippers of devidar/ Kail approximately 100 feet's of illicit timber and a horse from them. The arrested smugglers are identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar, S/o Abdullah Dar, Ab. Rashid Sofi, S/o Lassa Sofi, Sona Dar S/o Lassa Dar residents of Malwah, Gh. Ahmad Sheikh, S/o Mohammad Sheikh, R/o Gulabdaji, Irshad Bhat, S/o Sullah Bhat, Showkat Beigh, S/o Sona Beigh, residents of Pati Poshker, Hilal Dar, S/o Ama Dar and Hamid Pandith, S/o Mohammed Pandith, R/o Malwah Pati Poshker. However, some unidentified timber smugglers carrying the illicit timber on the horses gave a slip to police taking advantage of forest. In this regard a case FIR No: 08/2008, under section 353, 379 RPC, 6 Forest Act has been registered against the timber smugglers. The investigation of the case is going on. Meanwhile reports reaching here said that police has also seized timber from Charar-e-Sharief from one Tata Mobile load carrier bearing registration number JK04A-1801 during Naka Checking. Police has registered a case. |
