Mangat visits GMC, inspects construction works

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma today visited Govt Medical College, Jammu to take the stock of the ongoing construction work of additional emergency block and guest house complex coming up at a cost of Rs. 6 crore and 2.50 crore respectively, Principal, GMC, and senior faculties of the college were accompanying the minister.
Mangat Ram also inspected the Sarai coming up at cost of Rs.3 crore near the college. He was informed that the Sarai with adequate dinning facility will be housing the attendants of the patients admitted in the hospital. He said this will not only save the attendants from the market exploitation, but prove beneficial for the patients t
While inspecting the work of Super Specialist Hospital coming up at a cost of Rs.120 crore on the pattern of AIIMS, the minister said that there would be no need for the patients to go to Delhi, Chandigarh or any other Institute of the country for the advanced treatment as all the super specialist diagnostic facilities would be available in the hospital.
The Minister also dedicated a bus to the students and doctors of the college and said that this will facilitate their research work and holding of medical camps in rural areas, thereby benefiting the people of rural areas. Mr. Mangat also inspected parking places meant for doctors.
Replying to a query of a media person, regarding the shortage of doctors in the health institutions, minister said that Public Service Commission has been asked to speed up the selection process of the doctors and hoped that all the vacant posts of doctors would be filled up shortly.
Minister appreciated to the management of the college and the execution agency for completion of the work before the schedule and hoped that rest of the works would be completed early. He said people have great expectations with the doctors and asked them to serve the people wholeheartedly.
