Zargar addresses 15th Cooperative Congress
Enumerates steps taken for Cooperative revival in J&K

Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar today said that the state has finalized its response to the task force for a Long Term Credit Structure headed by Prof. A. Vaidaynathan.
Addressing 15th Indian Cooperative Congress here today, the minister said for the revival of Long Term Credit Structure, the recommendations of Vaidaynathan Committee would be put in implementation in Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the Center for special dispensation in cooperative restructuring in view of the difficult geographical conditions and the difficult situation the state has passed through.
Assuring that State would not lag behind in bringing in rural prosperity through community driven initiatives, Mr. Zargar enumerated several steps taken for strengthening and revival of cooperative movement in the state. He said state has sought technical support of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation in developing diary sector in the state and a new diary cooperative, Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd with 380 members has been established..
The minister said that the deposits in the Cooperative Banks in the states have recorded growth of Rs. 350 crore and department has also registered 2 women Credit Cooperative Societies at Jammu and Srinagar. He said poultry rearing has been given a new thrust under cooperatives and so far 110 projects have been forwarded to National Cooperative Development Corporation.
On the occasion, the minister also released a book on Cooperative Management.
President, Mrs. Pretibha Patil formerly inaugurated the congress that was organized by National Cooperative Union of India.
Union Agriculture Minister, Mr. Sharad Pawar, Governors of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerela, Madhya Pradesh, Orisa and Cooperative Ministers from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujrat and Orisa also attended the congress.
