SVO produces challan against two accused police officials

State Vigilance Organization has produced challan against two police officials then posted in Police Post Noor Bagh Srinagar, who were caught red handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 1500 from a local of the area for making concessions to him in two criminal cases pending investigation with these officials against him.
Case FIR No.13/2007 Police Station VOK u/s 5(2) P.C.Act read with 161, 120 –B RPC was registered on March 3, 2007 on the complaint of one Ghulam Nabi Khan s/o Fateh Mohd Khan resident of Wanganpora Idgah alleging that Head Constables Farooq Ahmed Chat and Ghulam Nabi Wani of Police Post Noorbagh are demanding an illegal gratification of Rs 1500 each for extending concessions to him in the course of investigation of two criminal cases under FIR No.33/07 and 36/2007 under investigation against the accused police officials, in which the complainant had been arrayed as an accused. In the course of investigation, the officials of State Vigilance Organization laid a successful trap during which both the accused police officials were caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 1500 jointly from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses. Their hand-wash was also taken which tested positive. After accord of sanction for prosecution by the Government, challan was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Kashmir. Both the accused officials were present in the Court at the time of the production of challan.
