| Pushed by a DySP: Out of pan, in fire | | She wanted action against husband, ended up in flesh trade | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 21 Twenty years old Shehnaaz had problems with her husband and wanted to set things right at home. The central character of Srinagar sexplosion –Sabeena –posed as local MLA before her and assured to get her problems settled down through Police. Unfortunately, the Police officer had a bizarre method of helping the poor lady. Shehnaaz was married to one Nazir Ahmed Dar and had one son. A couple of years after her marriage she discovered that her husband had a marriage earlier also. Not only had this, even after his marriage, Nazir continued to have illicit relations with many girls. In her statement before the CBI, Shehnaz says that she made all efforts to win her husband back but all in vain. During her efforts to persuade her husband, she shared the whole story to a friend Safiya who introduced her to Sabeena –the kingpin of the sex racket –that she may help her. Sabeena told Shehnaaz that she is an MLA and has good connections with may people including senior Police officers and will get her husband straightened through Police help. Therefore, Sabeena took Shehnaaz to Police Station Nauhatta and introduced her to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashraf Karnah. Ashraf assured the poor lady that he will take his husband to task. He won over her confidence and asked for something in return. The deal was settled. Shehnaaz submits that Ashraf wanted to have sex with her. She testifies that DySP Ashraf had sex with her inside the Police Station Nauhatta. This set off a series of exploitation with her. Each time she would approach the DySP to know progress on the matter; the officer would take her to a hotel and exploit her there. Husband was never set right, but with the blessings of Sabeena and exploitation by people like DySP Ashraf, Shehnaaz was now well a part of the larger flesh trade run by Sabeena. Later she became an almost regular client of DIG BSF Mr Padhi and was supplied by Sabeena to many other well meaning persons who she was not able to recollect. |
