| Army jawan commits suicide | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 21 An army jawan on Monday allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in an Army camp on the outskirts of the city, the third such incident in the district in the past one week. Lance Naik Vijay Kumar of 101 infantry battalion, who was on guard duty at 215 Army transit camp at Bari Brahamana area of Jammu district, fired on himself with an INSAS rifle, official sources said. His body has been sent for post-mortem. Army authorities have ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the reason behind the suicide, they said. This is the third such incident in the district in the past one week. Earlier on January 14, Lance Naik Brijesh Kumar fired at his two colleagues and later shot at himself in Akhnoor Army camp. Brijesh later succumbed to injuries. On January 16, BSF jawan Jagdish Kumar allegedly committed suicide in Khour belt of the district. |
