| Govt accords due attention to ex-servicemen: Taj | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 23 Minister for CAPD Mr. Taj MOhi-ud-Din while replying to the resolution moved by Mr. R. S. Chib Legislative Council today said "the welfare measures of Defence personnel are being taken care of by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India as a central subject and the state government has no jurisdiction over their service matters. However, these is a full-fledged Directorate of sainik Welfare headed by a Rtd. Brig under the administrative control of the state Home department which is under the charge of Chief Minister. Therefore, the matters relating to the welfare of ex-servicemen receive attention at the highest level. The government had constituted a cabinet sub-committee to look into the problems being faced by the ex-servicemen; and the committee has recently submitted its recommendations which are under examination of the government. In this backdrop there is no need to create a separate Ministry for the welfare of Defence personnel including ex-servicemen of the J&K State". R.S. Chib withdrew the resolution after the reply. |
