| Army organizing recruitment rallies from Feb 8 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 23 To provide employment opportunities to the educated youth of the state the Army is organizing several recruitment rallies during this year beginning from February 8 to February 17 at Reasi and Mendhar. A similar recruitment rally is likely to be held in May this year at Samba and Kathua. The recruitment is free service and no money is charged for it, the Army hand out said and cautioned the aspiring candidates not to fall pray to the touts and the agents who are active to lure the aspiring candidates through their different illegal modus operandi and in case any candidate is found involved in any malpractice, he will be out rightly rejected and legal action taken against him. During the last three years the Army has organized nine such recruitment rallies in Jammu division alone in which 2890 candidates were enrolled as GD, Soldier Technical and Soldier Clerk/SKT. Recruitment to the Armed Forces is voluntary and open to all citizens of India irrespective of caste, class, religion and community provided the laid down physical, medical and educational criteria are met. Recruitment of personnel below other ranks in the Army is carried out through open rallies. After the preliminary screening of aspiring candidates at rally site followed by document checking and physical fitness test their medical examination is conducted by Recruiting Medical Officers at the rally site. This is followed by a written examination for the medically fit candidates. Successful candidates are sent to respective training Centres for training. There are eleven Zonal Recruiting Offices, two Gorkha Recruiting Depots and One Independent Recruiting Office in addition to 47 Regimental Centres which carry out recruitment through rallies in their respective areas of jurisdiction. Efforts are made so that each district of the country is covered by recruitment rallies at least once in a recruitment year. |
