| Rs 562.72 cr released for 2005 quake victims: Govt | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 24 Jammu and Kashmir government today said it has released Rs 562.72 crores for earthquake victims in the state. Replying to a question in the Legislative Council, Minister of the State for Revenue Aijaz Ahmed Khan said Rs 562.72 crores have been released to district commissioners of various districts for the victims of 2005 quake. While Rs 238.40 crores was released for victims in Kupwara, other districts got smaller amounts, he said. So far, relief to the tune of Rs 42.39 crores has been provided to the earthquake victims, he added.
Replying to another question in the Council, Khan said the state government had disposed off 59,160 applications for grant of proprietary rights to the people who were possessing unauthorised government land under 'Roshni' scheme. Meanwhile, Minister of Consumer Affairs and Public distribution Taj Mohideen said a total of 314 lakh kgs of mutton was consumed in Kashmir valley annually. While 210 lakh kgs of mutton was imported from outside the state, 104 lakh kgs was produced locally, he added. |
