A red alert has been sounded across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Republic Day, over fears of possible terrorist attacks.
Security forces have strengthened their vigil in the Kashmir Valley, occupying all high-rise buildings around the Bakshi Stadium, the venue of the parade, to ensure trouble-free celebrations.
"We have announced a red alert to avoid any kind of disturbance near the venue of the Republic Day celebrations. We have placed security personnel everywhere," said M P Nathaniel, Deputy Inspector General, Central Reserve Police ForceCRPF).
In the past, militant groups have attacked during the Republic and Independence Day celebrations.
