INTUC deputation calls on Zora

A delegation of J&K Minerals and Coal Mines Kalakote field employees led by president Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Shiv Kumar Sharma called on minister for industries and commerce Ringzin Zora here today and apprised him about the problems of the workers.
The deputation said that the workers have not been paid their salaries for the last seven months due to which their domestic lives have been paralyzed. They could not pay the fee of their children and the education of employees’ children is adversely affected. Besides, the retired or retiring employees are not getting the gratuity and other terminal dues for years together and there is need to provide the funds for timely payments to retired employees. They also stressed for payments of COLA to the employees immediately.
Sharma also stressed for separation of coal mines from industry and attach it with directorate of geology and mining deptt which has required machinery, equipment and mining engineers to supervise the mineral exploration and to follow the safety rules imposed by directorate of mines safety under Govt of India. He further said that the Govt is requested to provide funds specially to clear the outstanding liabilities about 50 corores payable by JK Minerals to CMPS and EP funds Dept and there is need to start the deduction of CMPF from their wages to provide them social security. The deputation suggested that funds be kept in reserve with coal mine Kalakote, to meet the emergency expenses lime medical treatment, accidental cases, death etc of employees. The Minister assured the deputation that their demands would be considered soon and he said that he has already taken up the matte with the finance dept. for releasing rupees five crores for payment of pending salary to the employees of JK minerals. The other members of the delegation were G.M Khokhar, Amrit Lal Kapoor, M.S. Khan and Mohd. Qasim.
